Borrow by Huskee Launches at Barangaroo – A New Era of Reuse Begins
Barangaroo has just become the epicentre of Australia’s reuse revolution. We’re excited to welcome Borrow by Huskee — the country’s first turnkey reusable cup system — to the precinct, bringing a smarter, more sustainable way to enjoy your daily coffee.
Launched by the globally acclaimed Australian brand Huskee, Borrow by Huskee is a free and convenient reusable cup program that eliminates the need for single-use takeaway cups or even remembering your own reusable cup. Simply borrow a stylish Borrow cup from any participating café in Barangaroo, sip your coffee, and return the cup within 14 days to one of the tech-enabled Smart Bins throughout the precinct.
No cost to users. No waste. Just better coffee – with less impact.
Each cup features a unique QR code which has been developed by GS1 Australia using their global standards, and this is key to allowing for real-time tracking, usage monitoring and seamless cup returns.
“This launch is a huge moment for reuse in Australia,” said Saxon Wright, Co-Founder of Huskee. “Borrow by Huskee removes friction for consumers and businesses alike. It’s simple, accessible, and backed by powerful tech that closes the loop in a truly smart way.”
The Borrow cup comes in two sizes (8oz and 12oz), made from durable, 100% recyclable polypropylene (PP). And once they reach the end of their life? They're recycled into new products through Huskee’s closed-loop HuskeeLoop program. Behind the scenes, all returned cups are professionally sanitised at Huskee’s state-of-the-art WashHub in St Peters.
Barangaroo is proud to be the launchpad for this industry-leading solution. With the bustling café culture here and sustainability at the heart of the precinct’s design, it’s the perfect place to pilot a future without single-use waste.
