Now open: NOLA Smokehouse and Bar

Don't miss out on this premium New Orleans experience

If you’ve spent most of 2017 trying to recover from the tail-end of last year's festivities, we hope you’re ready to get back into the swing of things - as NOLA Smokehouse and Bar is now open!

Overlooking the harbour, The Streets' new venue is a celebration of the tastes, sounds and colours of New Orleans (a.k.a. ‘The Big Easy’), with separate bar and dining areas (and a private dining room for those baller get-togethers) to suit almost any occasion.

NOLA has a strong focus on premium smoked meats and southern-style pitt roasting, with the kitchen headed up by Richard Duff (whose cooking career has seen stints in top London restaurants like Bibendum and L’Oranger; with time also spent at Attica in Melbourne, and The LincolnThe Kirketon Bar & Dining and O Bar & Dining in Sydney).

The menu isn’t just be an endless selection of meat, meat and more meat either – there’s be an equally strong focus on ethically-sourced seafood, incorporating the African-American, French, Spanish and South American flavours that have become integral parts of Louisiana’s much-loved cuisine.

On the drinks side, classic New Orleans cocktails like the Sazerac feature on the list, as well as other cocktails that showcase their large selection of American whiskey (there'll eventually be around 500 varieties). NOLA’s strong booze game doesn’t stop there – the back bar is stocked with 1000 bottles of the good stuff, and the 180-strong wine list features a solid mix of local and American varieties to pair with your 14-hour dry rubbed & smoked beef brisket.

The fitout is inspired by all the energetic colour and character of New Orleans architecture, and has been immaculately designed by award-winning firm Luchetti Krelle (if you’ve been to Banksii, you’ll have seen their work). The entire space is filled with natural light from the western setting sun, making it a perfect space for a business lunch, or afternoon drinks and dinner catch-ups with friends.

Throw in some live music and a good dose of warm southern hospitality, and you’ll be closer to New Orleans than Sydney has ever taken you before.

NOLA Smokehouse and Bar is now open in Tower One (Level 1, enter from Shipwright Walk)
